Version 20.11.25.1814, with last-minute major change


With the initial release just days away, it’s probably a terrible idea to introduce gameplay changes. Yet, here we go.

I’ve decided not to increase target base speed per wave. Each wave adds an additional asteroid which, when all is said and done, means 5 new targets. Adding a speed ramp-up on top of that made the challenge scale a bit less predictably than I’d like.

Asteroids now travel at a slightly higher constant base speed. Hopefully, this will result in longer games with a more predictable challenge curve. If enough players want the old behavior back post-release, then I’ll push a patch enabling it.

This build also features a few additional bugfixes and small tweaks:

  • Bullets last slightly longer, improving their range a bit.
  • Use the newer AV Foundation TTS backend on macOS 11.
  • Reset the player position/rotation when a life is lost in the tutorial.
  • Reduce tutorial new life timer to 5 seconds to be consistent with gameplay.
